Charles Moore from In Praise of Shadows (1977) said ‘one of the basic human requirements is the need to dwell, and one of the central human acts is the act of inhabiting, of connecting ourselves, however temporarily, with a place on the planet which belongs to us, and to which we belong’.

Where do you feel most at home? Can ‘home’ be perceived as more than the physical space that we live in? Can home be a person, a feeling, an intangible and mental place? Do we need to feel a sense of belonging in order to function as human beings? Does the geographic location of our family home define ourselves? The subject of home is ambiguous, it is ever-changing and constantly evolving.

We live in a moment where everything is moveable, fast, and uncertain and a sense of belonging is needed, more than ever. ‘Home _’ is a platform that aims to build a conversation around the topic of home as either physical or abstract. Generating an ongoing discussion, we aim to re-imagine what home means.

It aims to connect people closer to discuss a relevant issue within our lives, sharing our difficulties in searching for a sense of belonging. The aim of this initial event is to develop a series of direct outcomes, such as: stories, photographs, drawings, objects… These outcomes which will be collected at the events, which will then be developed and presented on to the online platform. Ultimately these outcomes will then develop into the ‘bricks’ of our online home.
